Geological and Natural History Lake Kh\u00f6vsg\u00f6l is located in the <strong data-start=\"413\" data-end=\"442\">northern part of Mongolia<\/strong>, at an elevation of <strong data-start=\"463\" data-end=\"495\">1,645 meters above sea level<\/strong>. It is one of the <strong data-start=\"514\" data-end=\"547\">17 ancient lakes in the world<\/strong>, with its formation estimated at more than <strong data-start=\"591\" data-end=\"616\">two million years ago<\/strong>. Like Lake Baikal, it is an extremely <strong data-start=\"655\" data-end=\"676\">fragile ecosystem<\/strong>, naturally renewing itself only once every <strong data-start=\"720\" data-end=\"733\">500 years<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"738\" data-end=\"1072\">The surrounding <strong data-start=\"754\" data-end=\"776\">Kh\u00f6vsg\u00f6l Mountains<\/strong>, formed by ancient glaciation, play a vital role in preserving the lake\u2019s exceptional water purity.
